Case study 06:

How we took lawyers from reporting to storytelling

Global Software Company
The challenge:

How do brilliant lawyers get heard in a technical business?

We partnered with the legal team at a global software company: a group of brilliant lawyers working in a highly technical, fast-moving environment. They came to us with three challenges:
  • Their lawyers weren’t being listened to across the business.
  • They struggled to influence stakeholders, despite deep expertise.
  • They had almost no time to spend developing the skill.
The approach:

Charismatic content, a safe space, and real practice.

Rather than another slide-heavy training session, we built an experience around three things:
  • A safe space.
Somewhere senior experts could experiment, take risks, and be a little vulnerable, without any fear of judgement.
  • Charismatic, intuitive tools.
Memorable ideas they’d actually use, from delivering Shakespeare’s “to be, or not to be” to standing out like Seth Godin’s Purple Cow.
  • Real practice.
We spent half the session presenting for real: deliver a short talk, get feedback, reflect, and go again, until the tools became second nature.

"Hands down the best presentation skills workshop I’ve ever been part of."

The results:

We’d rather let our client speak for themselves.

  • We could tell you it worked, but it’s better coming from them. Here’s what they said in the weeks that followed:
  • “We are still buzzing. The fun sound effects, interactive breakouts, and organic relationship building were perfectly aligned with our goals. Matt transformed our legal team’s communication from technical reporting to high-impact storytelling.” — Chief Legal Officer
  • “Matt kept the entire group extremely engaged for over 3 hours — it flew by. He made it fun, interesting, and we all walked away having learned a lot about ourselves and what we can work on individually to be better presenters.” — Commercial Attorney
