Global Retail Organisation

the challenge:

How do we deliver business impact in just 90 minutes?

Across 2024 and 2025, we partnered with a global retail organisation undergoing significant change. They wanted to plug specific skills gaps that would help their people lead and transition during this change.

They had previously paid a premium for off-the-shelf learning from a large training provider. Not only was this training expensive – it also had high drop-out rates.


We were asked if we could deliver short monthly sessions lasting from 30 to 90 minutes on relevant topics such as leading others through change and saying no.

The challenge was delivering something that would change behaviour and stick with people long after the session had ended.

THE APPROACH:

Bespoke learning built to change behaviour.

We designed bespoke sessions that costed less than half the existing provider. We followed three steps:
  1. Behaviour needs analysis.
    We conducted short interviews to identify our target behaviours, understand our audience, and uncover the blockers to change.
  2. Design and delivery.
    We designed and delivered short monthly learning sessions, packed with stories, activities, and practical tools.
  3. Evaluation and embedding.
    We deployed a tool to both measure and embed change for 28 days after the session.

A review of eight competitors, the behaviours required for success in the future of retail, and a generational workforce needs review.

Internal sessions.

We conducted 49 ‘Walkaround Sessions’ with over 200 people across the organisation. We used these sessions to gather feedback, add detail, and iterate the content of the Culture Blueprint.

The results:

Engaging learning that delivered behaviour change.

Engaging learning that delivered behaviour change. Despite budget and time constraints, results included:
  • 28-day behaviour change in 100% of people who chose to track their behaviour.
  • Bespoke learning for less than 50% less cost than the previous training provider.
  • Drop-out rates below 5%, compared to much higher rates with previous providers.
  • 96% of participants said they would recommend the sessions to a colleague.
